Residue and Waste Course

A Residue and Waste Survey is performed on every logging block in the province after the logging is complete. The Residue Surveyor will measure the pieces left behind that should have been logged. The pieces include High stumps, logs, trim ends and any portion or log that should have been harvested under the logging contract. The Residue course will give you an understanding to what is considered waste and the logging specifications.

A scaling license is not required to perform the surveys but knowledge of scaling is required. Scaling students will write their Residue exam and if they are unsuccessful with their scaling exam they may find employment as a residue surveyor.

The residue course is six days log with the exam on the last day. The cost of the course is $450.00 and also a $50.00 exam fee.

More and more companies are requiring their quality control personnel to have scaling and or waste and residue licenses so this course is a natural addition to the scaling license.

The residue courses are generally held in June and October.
